Vincenzo Aprile was born in Naples in 1952, where he still lives and works. Several brief critiques have been written about his style in painting. Gerardo Marciano wrote that until a few years ago there was some mistrust against young artists because of their "New Ideas" to change and upset the traditional view of art. He writes, however, on the contrary, to fully admire the artistic value of the young Vincenzo Aprile, it is necessary to put aside these suspicions in view of his command of craftsmanship and his sense of pictorial values. Vincenzo Aprile unites a technical knowledge with a game of lights, a delicate passage between dark and light, plus chromatic tones which define the notable position of the figures in a space which is both alive and vibrant. Marciano describes Aprile's art as assuming a sentimental languor in representing landscapes immersed in a tranquil and luminous serenity and vast blue skies. Ettore Baldi writes that characteristic of Vincenzo Aprile's painting is the "violence" of the color that suddenly strikes the observer. He points out, however, that it is a violence limited by inspiration and theme without betraying the spontaneity that the choice of the theme determines because the artist has some very clear internal impulses and the execution of his every work is the expression of some art that develops within him. Baldi points out that the knowledge of Vincenzo Aprile is not the conventional knowledge of truth. This knowledge comes to him as if from a careful study of nature. This study has transmitted upon canvas a need for open air and light which slips and infiltrates him in its cottages and in its paths, gathering the most meaningful and vibrant moments of the light of a day. Baldi continues by saying that Aprile's works underline the artistic value of a painter who searches for his real world, an ideal way to speak for himself with his ever-varied and powerful canvasses, authentic and clear as light.
